"The Threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but
as I said, it is not new. It has been with us since the end of that war, and
particularly in the last 4 years we know after Operation Desert Fox failed to
force him to reaccept them, that he has continued to build those weapons.
He has had a free hand for 4 years to reconstitute these weapons, allowing
the world, during the interval, to loose the focus we had on weapons of mass
destruction and the isue of proliferation. -John Kerry, 10/09/02

NPR accused of biases against Israel

"The Palestinian point of view gets much more air time than the Israeli point of view," Horwitz said. "Terrorist attacks that occur in other parts of the world are labeled as terrorist attacks. If they occur in Israel, terrorists that perpetuate these attacks are called militants and activists. Call it as it is. When Israeli women and children get killed, call the people that killed them terrorists."

good job, im tired of npr's bias too. wankers.

Senate OKs Temporary Dividend Tax Cut

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Thursday agreed to temporarily eliminate taxes on corporate dividends as a way to bring a $350 billion tax cut package more in line with President Bush's original proposal.

In a vote of 51-50, with Vice President Dick Cheney breaking a tie, the Senate agreed to amend the tax legislation to provide for a temporary elimination of taxes on dividends.

The amendment replaces a provision in the bill that would have made the first $500 of dividend income plus 10 percent of anything above that tax free. Bush had called for eliminating taxes on dividends paid from already-taxed corporate profits

good job, just make it permanent, you wankers!

Lmfao, Suckers in california get more taxes as Democrat Governor proposes even more to cover california's massivley bloated government.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California Gov. Gray Davis unveiled an overhauled $96-billion budget on Wednesday that relies heavily on more borrowing paired with tax increases and spending cuts aimed at closing a record shortfall projected at $38 billion.

Davis, a Democrat, backed away from his earlier call for steeper tax increases and program cuts in the face of opposition in the Democrat-controlled legislature, choosing instead to borrow more and shift the burden to future years.

Under the revised plan, California would issue $10.7 billion in bonds backed by a half-cent increase in the state's 7.25 percent sales tax. The increase would fall away when the debt is repaid.

ok, so when the first matrix came out I was taking drawing 2 at school and drew a pic of Trinity holding her hand up right before the agents crashed into her phone booth with the truck. Keeping in this fine tradition of matrix headyness, i think this is what i want to draw next... should be fun.

Moron of the day:

"James Keen, a 19-year-old from Scottsville, Ky., shows off his spilt tongue at his home Wednesday, May 7, 2003. James got his tongue split in December by a piercer after a surgeon declined to do it for him. He says the piercer used a scalpel heated by a blow torch and no anesthetic. Some say the practice, still relatively uncommon but edging up in popularity, is nothing short of mutilation. Lawmakers in Illinois are considering regulations that would all but outlaw it. California Senate Approves Net Tax Bill

As a result of the ongoing financial crisis in California, legislators are no longer willing to forego revenues generated by sales taxes on Internet purchases.

On Thursday, the California state Senate approved a bill that requires businesses with stores in the state to charge their customers sales tax for purchases made over the Internet.

It's stupid shit like this that has kept me from moving out to the Peoples Republic of California. I have a lot of family that lives in san diego, and they have a hell of a hard time keeping afloat, even with both the husband and wife working. California is great if your a bum, you get completly subsidised from the government, while everyone else who works gets the short end of the stick. what a sick joke.

dumbest story ive read in a while: stoner calls cops to report his weed stolen.

This photograph of the coil-shaped Helix Nebula, released Friday May 9, 2003, is one of the largest and most detailed celestial images ever made. The composite picture is a seamless blend of ultra-sharp images from NASA (news - web sites)'s Hubble Space Telescope (news - web sites) combined with the wide view of the Mosaic Camera on the National Science Foundation (news - web sites)'s 0.9-meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, Ariz. The image shows a fine web of filamentary 'bicycle-spoke' features embedded in the colorful red and blue ring of gas. At 650 light-years away, the Helix is one of the nearest planetary nebulae to Earth. A planetary nebula is the glowing gas around a dying, Sun-like star. (AP Photo/NASA)
